The Fur Keeps Flying!

Cedarburg Business Continues Catering to Canines, Reveals New Owners

Flying Fur had been planning to close the doors of the business on Lincoln Blvd for good as of September first this year. That is, until a couple of local residents heard how sad many of the existing doggie daycare customers were to lose the important asset in their daily life. Enter Kyle Dunfee and his sister-in-law, Madeline. Kyle, who was already looking for a new entrepreneurial endeavor when he heard about the business closing, thought of Madeline as a well-suited partner due to her decades spent in animal care and management. Dunfee explained, “We’re both the type of people who will be more likely to greet your dog before we greet you.” Madeline echoed the same sentiment by adding, “We’re happy we’ll be able to continue serving so many long term Flying Fur customers… and their owners!”

Flying Fur opened at its first location on Cleveland Street in downtown Cedarburg on May 10th, 2010.. It didn’t take long to recognize that the venture would require more space, which is why current owner, Keith Reid, explains they moved to their current location on Lincoln Blvd. “We simply outgrew our space and had the demand to provide boarding and daycare services for the dogs”. Well known over the years for walk-in nail trims, bathing, grooming, and overnight boarding, Flying Fur has adapted to accommodate today’s biggest demand – doggie daycare. “We are a boutique dog shop that prides ourselves with the lowest dog to human ratio in the county (7:1) – not to mention the lowest daily daycare prices!” Reid adds. “We learned that dogs prefer even more human interaction vs. other dog interaction in a daycare setting – and we deliver that to them in a smaller, more intimate setting”.

Kyle says that, going forward, the business will continue to operate out of its existing location during the transition, but they will be opening a new facility, which will still be in Cedarburg. “I couldn’t be happier to welcome the Dunfee families to the Fur and am excited to assist with the transition”. Says Reid. Stay tuned for updates!
